With half the country under water the question was would anyone turn up at all, well in fairness a very respectable 42 turned up in Nenagh last night. We exceeded the guarantee €5k again with €6200 in the pool .David Gill our player `s league leader came down from Kildare in search of points and cash however he seemed reasonably happy with the points for 15th.Local legend Paul "Acadamy Poker" Cooney just missed out on the cash himself finishing 7th having entertained all evening. Derek Mulcahy got the bubble prize which Terry had brokered although it was Terry who cracked his AA to insure it , raised preflop Terry called with KJ flop 9 J 3 all D. all in with the Ad called by top pair and the K d ,K on the turn left Derek out in the wet.Mike Allen had pushed a few times and eventually got a call loosing most of his stack shortly afterwards his K6 got rivered for a straight by Terry `s 10 4 . Billy Woods went next after folding a number of raises he `d made he got them all in with AQonly for Trevor to show AK, K on the river and were left with 3 .Terry ran A3 into A10 for a monster pot,  giving  a huge chip lead to John who came back to finish the job moments later .Heads up was pretty quick Trevor pushed Q5 into John`s Ak even a double paired board was no help giving us our winner John Mc Mahon .

Back with a bang in Portlaoise on Sunday last, 68 runners produced a prize pool of €10,200 with changes to the structure and lots of familiar faces, a great night of poker insued Kitty our last lady proved very durable only falling at the final hurdle in 3rd place . The top twenty contained lots of previous winners and a few looking to make the break through. Sue just missing out on the final table in 11th as did Tom Dempsey in 10th. Some good stuff followed as big clashes and rivers got us down to four as Paul Bray fell in fifth having been all in short stacked with two callers, both of whom flopped two pair. A while later Kitty ran her K Q into A 3 , A on the turn finished her challange . Heads up saw Padraic Smyth take on Neil Rogers , having lost a pot to Padraics` K 4 a while later he turned the tide taking it down with the same hand .
