Registration is just about complete and players are settling into their seats as they eagerly await the official start of the 2007 Celtic Poker Tour final.

The finalists, some of whom made their way to Carlow yesterday, were in good spirits at registration. Now however, the pre-tournament debates are almost over and it's nearly time to get down to the serious business of the big game!

"Shuffle up and deal" - the now famous phrase used by Celtic Poker Tour director Mike Foley at the start of each game - has been called. The second annual grand final of the Celtic Poker Tour is now officially underway.

15.35 The winner of the high hand during the first blind was Mr John Flanagan. John had a poker of tens, 6 high. He wins €500.

The winner of the high hand during the second blind was Mr Stephen Ryan from Cork city. Stephen had a poker of twos, Q high. He wins €500.

We have lost our first two players at this years tournament in the last ten minutes. We are now left with 196 players as we continue on level 3.

We're now on a meal break here at the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow. Players chips have been counted and they are currently enjoying a hot buffet meal. Join us in one hour as we head into the second half of day one at the 2007 Celtic Poker Tour grand final.

Welcome back! The finalists are settling in once again for the second leg of day one of this two day final.

The second half consists of six 45-minute levels including a short break half way through.

The blinds heading into level 5 are now at 150/300 and players who have not used their buy back can avail of a top up before the first hand is dealt. The tournament now becomes a freezeout.

Level 4's High Hand winner was Aonghus Cunningham. He wins €500 on a poker of Kings, Queen high.

Level 6 has now begun. The big blind is 200 and the small blind is 400.

Tony O'Connor now takes the lead in our High Hand Competition. His Straight Flush to the King of Hearts puts him in the lead to win €1,000.

The prize money for the CPT Grand Final 2007 is now confirmed at €129,500.00. The winner will receive €40,500. The top 20 players will receive prizemoney with 20th position taking €1,000.
